Shindy Music
Director: Andrei Teodorescu
Duration: 75 min
Year: 2017
Country: România
The movie follows three life stories from three different parts of Moldavia: Vaslui, Neamț and Botoșani. Giani (4 years old), Sebi (13 years old) and Raul (16 years old) are three children passionate about shindy music. Growing up in families of lăutari and facing the difficulties of rural life, they all want the same thing: to become successful musicians.
Just like a bitter-sweet symphonic composition, these are the stories of the three gypsy children who are growing up in villages from Vaslui, Neamț and Botoșani. Although they live in different areas, the children follow the same dream: they want to learn the virtuosity of playing traditional party music, to become successful musicians, rich enough to sustain their families and to offer them a future. The camera follows each one in their daily lives: at school, home with the family, playing and rehearsing, with their friends, trials and dreams, restoring tender and complex images of the way they spend their childhood in the sound of party music.
